The Perfect 10

A new year and a new goal.

Steve at logmyloss.com has a new challenge beginning this week. The Perfect 10 for 2010 challenge. I was already planning on making some New Year fitness resolutions so why not call them goals and take a chance at winning a fabulous prize. Beside the Hot 100 challenge really helped keep my motivated through the years end. Boy-oh-boy do I need motivation when it is cold outside... there are always those icy mornings when it would be so much easier to just stay in bed, turn the heated blanket up to 10 and pull my comforter over my head rather than head out to Zumba class or running on the treadmill. But then I remember I have to account for these things so I pull myself out of bed.

Here are my Goals...

1) I am going to try at least one new fitness activity every week... even if it is just a new piece of equipment at the gym or some group exercise class.

2) I am going to workout a minimum of 4 hours each week... even when I work everyday.

3) I will lose at least 10 pounds.

I look forward to reading about your goals too so head over to logmyloss.com and join the challenge.

Weight Loss Visual

I was playing around today on the "My Virtual Model" website (the weight loss option) and figured why not type in my current weight and goal weight to see the difference. This is my current weight along side my goal weight of 140 pounds. I am not even sure what size that is for a woman of 5' 8".

Since I have never been thin in my adult life I am not sure what my goal should really be. The thinnest I have been is a size 16 and the last time I wore that size was about three years ago and if I remember correctly I had dieted down to about 200 pounds. According to the National institute of Health, a healthy weight (using Body Mass Index (BMI)) for a woman my height is between 122 and 164 so I just went with something in the middle. Hopefully, as I lose weight, I will find a comfort zone... a weight that feels right for me.

264

Two hundred and sixty four... it's not a bad number I would like to have an extra 264 dollars in my wallet and interstate 264 goes to Virgina beach and it is the area code to a very sunny and beach filled vacation destination. However, 264 as the number that appeared on my scale this morning is definitely not great. It seems a bit daunting to say how much I have to lose since it is over 100 pounds... so while standing on my scale this morning and waiting for a number to appear between my toes I decided two things. First, I need to give myself a pedicure and second I am going to start with a smaller goal. I want to be at 240 pounds for my birthday (which is September 10th). Once I get to 240 I only have 90 pounds to lose. I don't know why it makes me feel more hopeful if my "pounds to lose" number has two digits instead of three, it just does.
